Provinces and ACOA sign $20m Atlantic tourism deal
The four Atlantic provinces and the federal government have inked an agreement that will increase tourism spending to the tune of nearly $20 million over three years. The deal will focus marketing communication efforts on key U.S. and European markets.
The agreement is a renewal of the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership, which is designed to position the region as a major destination for foreign visitors. On our own we couldn't possibly afford to be able to reach the markets that the Atlantic region working together will do," said P.E.I tourism minister Valerie Docherty.
The deal could not have come at a better time especially for Nova Scotia. A recent article in PEI newspaper, The Guardian, revealed that tourism in the province is down this summer although a strong fall is expected
