Nocturne to return for another exciting year
Haligonians and visitors will once again have a chance to experience art in a whole new light. After the overwhelming success of the inaugural Nocturne: Art at Night event last year, 26 galleries and studios have agreed to participate in this unique event that showcases and celebrates the arts community in Halifax.
Admission is free to every gallery including NSCAD University, Queen Street Studios, and Visual Arts Nova Scotia, from 6:00 pm to midnight on October 17.
Last year the event drew over 3,000 visitors to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and many galleries are planning special programming for this year's Nocturne. In addition to the galleries and studios, many private artists will be exhibiting their works throughout the city.
Visit artgalleryofnovascotia.ca for full program details.
This will be an exciting week for the art scene in Nova Scotia. The 2009 Sobey Art Award will be announced at a gala at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia on Thursday, October 15. Halifax artist Graeme Patterson’s “Hockey Organ” has been shortlisted for the $70,000 prize. To view his, and other short listed submissions, click here.
