Five More Join the East Coast Connected Advisory Panel

East Coast Connected is pleased to announce some great additions to the ranks of its advisory panel.

Fred MacGillivray is President & CEO of Trade Centre Limited. He began his career in the grocery industry with IGA and rose to senior management and executive positions with Dominion Stores Ltd., Lumsden Brothers Ltd., and Bolands/IGA Fred holds two Honorary Degrees and is well-known for his dedication to the community through his leadership and volunteer activities. He was selected as one of Atlantic Canada Top 50 CEOs in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He is Chair of the 2008 Men's World Championship coming to Halifax and Quebec City.

Bernd Christmas is Senior Vice-President and National Aboriginal Practice Leader at Hill & Knowlton Canada. As an Aboriginal lawyer, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Membertou Band of Nova Scotia and the Membertou Corporate Division, and as a negotiator for several First Nations bands, Mr. Christmas brings a deep understanding of Aboriginal perspectives. He also brings extensive experience on national and international boards and commissions.

Jonathan Barry is a Vice President within Bell Enterprise and is responsible for the Ontario sales teams managing retail, manufacturing, services and Enterprise mid-markets. Prior to joining Bell Canada, Jon was Vice President responsible for Fujitsu's Canadian Communications team. Jon is active in the Toronto Board of Trade and with ProAction, Cops and Kids, a community program involving the Toronto Police Services that works with community children at risk. He is an inaugural member of the New Brunswick Ambassador program.

Kaz Flinn started her career in politics and public affairs, where she worked for over 15 years. She was Director, Government Affairs, for Rogers Communications Inc., before she joined Scotiabank in 1998 as Director, Government Affairs. She was appointed VP, Government Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in May 2004, and became VP CSR in November 2006. Scotiabank is the first Canadian bank to have a VP fully dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Philip Saunders is Dean of Law (Cross-appointed to School for Resource and Environmental Studies) at Dalhousie University. Professor Saunders was formerly with the International Centre for Ocean Development, as Senior Policy Advisor and as Field Representative, South Pacific. He has managed and delivered development and training projects in the areas of marine and environmental law in the South Pacific, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central America and Russia. He acted as counsel for Nova Scotia in the arbitration of the boundary between the offshore areas of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and has recently authored a study on policy options for straddling stocks on the Grand Banks for the Newfoundland and Labrador - "Royal Commission on Renewing and Strengthening our Place in Canada."
