East Coast Connected announces support of Daytrippers Children's Charity
East Coast Connected is pleased to announce their recent support of Daytrippers Children's Charity to provide educational school trips for underprivileged children in Grades 1-8 in Toronto and Halifax.
At the East Coast Charity Ball on March 29th, East Coast Connected teamed with other expatriated Atlantic Canadians to collectively raise $1,200 to fund cultural day trips for children in Nova Scotia.
"East Coast Connected is dedicated to civic engagement in their community, whether it is in Atlantic Canada or in Toronto," said Kathrine Smirle, civic engagement chair, East Coast Connected. "Daytrippers enables East Coast Connected to support cultural experiences for deserving children in Nova Scotia from Toronto."
Daytrippers values "outside the classroom" learning and believes children benefit tremendously from the multi-dimensional experiences gained through class trips. Many children do not get to experience extracurricular learning opportunities due to cost barriers.
"With Daytrippers' support, students get an educational and fun experience that they will remember for a lifetime," said Michael Comisarow, Executive Director. "We are committed to helping those children that would otherwise be unable to take part in an experience important to their academic and social development."
Daytrippers is non-profit children's charity formed by a group of young professionals in Toronto and supports educational and cultural day trips for underprivileged students in Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia. Visit www.daytrippers.org for more information.
East Coast Connected is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering cultural, academic, business and policy ties between expatriate Atlantic Canadians and Atlantic Canada.
