Atlantic Canadian Economic Council says recession is easing

The Atlantic Canadian Economic Council has issued a report that the largest recession that Canada has experienced since the great depression is easing, but, it will not give a firm recovery date.
In its latest economic update, the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council says a number of factors could halt the region's progress, including exporters' concerns over the rising Canadian dollar and any loss of momentum in the United States and the global economy.
Despite the weak economic forecast the Atlantic Canada has experienced a slight increase in consumer spending in the region, and, since April an increase of 8,000 jobs according to a Statistics Canada labour survey. There is still a strong number of people “heading west” to seek work, but an equal number of expatriates have returned home. Specifically from Alberta, due to the slumping oil and gas sector.
