Nobody would call Atlantic Canada’s investment culture “high profile.” That situation may be changing, however. Just ask Jennifer Ayotte, Director of Communications at Immunovaccine Inc. The Halifax-based biotech company develops high potential vaccines for human health, and is now publicly traded. But getting there wasn’t easy. “Venture capital is more or less nonexistent in Atlantic Canada, and in biotech in Canada generally,” says Ayotte. NS iPhone App to aid health care workers

Smartphones will soon have a place in the operating room thanks to an innovative new iPhone application that's being developed for cardiovascular perfusionists. Headspace Design, a website development and design company based in Dartmouth, with a branch in Kennebunkport, Maine, is developing an iPhone application in conjunction with Perfusion.com, which allows perfusionists to calculate and monitor blood flow and other vital signs during open heart surgery. Atlantic Canadians using social networking to find OneMatch

UNB Alum and Saint John, N.B., native Robin Rocca is using Facebook and social networking to find his one match. Unfortunately, Rocca is not searching for a match in the traditional sense; Rocca is searching for a bone marrow match and has launched a Facebook group to spread the word.
