Innovacorp launches Entrepreneur in Residence program

Innovacorp, a provincial Crown corporation in Nova Scotia, focused on emerging high potential technology companies, has launched an Entrepreneur in Residence program. Jevon MacDonald was welcomed to the Innovacorp team as the first entrepreneur-in-residence. MacDonald is originally from PEI and is the founder and business developer of several software and services companies. Read more

ECC’s Coast and Cocktails featuring Dave Carroll

On a sunny May 20th at Toronto’s Duke of Westminster, ECC members new and old were treated to an Atlantic Canadian original: Sons of Maxwell musician and internet sensation Dave Carroll. Speaking at ECC’s Coast and Cocktails as part of his tour of Canada, Carroll entertained the crowd with his “United Breaks Guitars” experience, explaining how his life has changed since then, and then performing several songs, much to the pleasure of the crowd. ECC Profiles: UFIT Founder and Director Eireann Rigby

In late 2009, PEI blogger and CEO Tim Banks wrote on his website, “a few years ago I started taking notice of the name UFIT as it was popping up at some of the events I attended...It wasn’t long fterwards that I saw a fun looking Mini Cooper all ‘pimped out’ (an expression from my oldest son) with the UFIT logos.” That car was likely being driven by Eireann Rigby, and like Banks, other people took notice, too. Dalhousie Student named NS Volunteer of the Year

Halifax resident Sunisha Neupane has received Nova Scotia’s top award for volunteerism by the non-profit development agency CUSO-VSO. Neupane, who is originally from Nepal was honoured for her work on CUSO-VSO’s ‘Stand Up’ campaign which draws attention to world poverty. She is currently completing a double major in international development and chemistry at Dalhousie University. Read more

The University of West Indies (UWI) is hosting an inaugural Toronto gala honouring Dr. the Honourable Harry Belafonte and the Honourable Mayann E.
